Draft policy
Terms of service
1. Pre-launch period
Joining the waitlist or applying as a host is free and creates no obligation to buy or provide lessons. We may change or end the pre-launch programme at any time.
2. Accounts and eligibility
- Hosts must be 19 or older and pass an identity check and interview.
- Learners under 14 need parent or guardian consent. Learners under 18 can book only Kids-safe Teachers.
3. Hosts
Hosts are independent and not employees of K-SeoulMate. Hosts set their price within the band for their type (Buddy 25 min: USD 8–12; Teacher 50 min: USD 15–30, subject to change).
4. Fees and payment
- Learners pay the listed price; there is no learner service fee.
- K-SeoulMate keeps a flat 20% commission on every paid session, including the first; the host receives 80%.
- Payments are processed by a licensed payment company. Host payouts are made in KRW through a licensed payout service, after legally required tax withholding.
5. Cancellations and refunds
Learners may withdraw from an unused purchase within 7 days, as provided by the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce. Detailed cancellation windows will be published before launch.
6. Safety rules
- Sessions take place only in the K-SeoulMate video room. Exchanging phone numbers, messenger IDs, social media or payment outside the platform is prohibited.
- Recording is off by default and requires both parties' consent.
- Harassment, sexual content, discrimination and solicitation are prohibited. Reported accounts may be suspended immediately while we investigate.
7. Liability
As an intermediary, K-SeoulMate is not liable for the content of sessions provided by hosts, except where caused by our own intent or negligence, or as required by law.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
9. Operator
K-SeoulMate founding team (BKAI) · Pre-launch: the company is being set up and no payments are taken
