Draft policy
Safety and kids policy
Draft policy for launch. It describes the safeguards we are building; some will start when booking opens.
For everyone
- Verified hosts. Every host passes an identity check and a short video interview. Teachers also show a Korean-teacher certificate or teaching experience.
- Inside the site only. Booking, payment and video happen only in K-SeoulMate. Sharing contact details or moving to other apps is not allowed, and we detect common attempts automatically.
- Report and block. Anyone can report or block from the session room or profile. Reported hosts are paused while we review.
- No recording by default. Recording needs both people's consent.
- Choose who you talk to. Learners can filter hosts by gender, languages and topics.
Learners under 18
- Under 14: a parent or legal guardian must give consent before the learner can join.
- 14–17: we strongly recommend adding a parent or guardian.
- Kids-safe Teachers only. Minors are matched only with Teachers holding the Kids-safe badge — never with Conversation Buddies.
- Guardian notifications. Guardians receive booking and session notifications.
- Immediate suspension. Any report involving a minor suspends the host immediately until reviewed.
The Kids-safe badge
A Teacher earns the badge only after all of the following:
- Identity verified.
- Consent to a criminal record (sexual-offence) check, with the result submitted to us.
- Korean-teacher certificate or proven teaching experience.
- Agreement to this policy.
Report a concern
Email master@bkai.co.kr. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first (Korea: 112).
